Roman Empire: Power and People

Free to all
Over 160 pieces on loan from the British Museum explore the story of one of the most formidable empires the world has ever seen.
Artefacts reveal the wealth, power and organisation of the Empire, but also how the Romans viewed their provinces and people. The exhibition also explores the experiences of those living within their realm of power, from northern Britain to Egypt and the Middle East.
Highlights include sculpture from the villas of the Emperors Tiberius and Hadrian, coins from the famous Hoxne treasure, items of jewellery and preserved children's clothing from Roman Egypt.
