Former psychiatric patient Dale vN Marshall documents his personal journey from rebellion to rehabilitation.

Marshall started out as a graffiti artist spray-painting the walls of Bristol under the tag Vermin, but in 1999 was detained under the mental health act and admitted to one of Britain’s oldest psychiatric hospitals, St Lawrence's in Cornwall.

The exhibition is inspired not only by his time at St Lawrence's but also by his studio, a former Victorian workhouse in North Wales with decaying walls that were inscribed by children over 100 years ago.

Each painting was borne out of a dramatic memory and, using oil paints, needles, wound dressing, anti-bacterial varnish and even the mortar and plaster from the walls of his studio, the artist represents a journey from physical destruction to repair.
