See 55 of the world's most outstanding new painted portraits at the only Scottish showing of the annual exhibition.
Now in its 34th year, the award brings together portraits across a wide range of subjects and styles, from photorealistic paintings of celebrities to impressionistic renditions of artists' personal acquaintances. The portraits on display were chosen from almost 2,000 submissions by artists from 77 countries.
This year's first-prize winner, Susanne du Toit's portrait of her son Pieter, shows the sitter sitting awkwardly cross-legged, outlined in black against a mottled green background, his gaze averted from the viewer.
Scottish artist Owen Normand was awarded the Young Artist Prize for Das Berliner Zimmer (The Berlin Room). The portrait of his girlfriend, painted in one of the German capital's iconic long rooms adjoining a courtyard, won Normand the £7,000 prize.
