A Royal Arrival
28 June – 31 October 2013
Kick off the celebrations early with a chance to coo at some of the items that belonged to other Royal newborns
As the imminent arrival of William and Kate's first born baby stirs up a national frenzy, Museum of London takes a trip back in time to remember some of the other Royal tots from history.
Drawn from its own collection, the display features items that belonged to a host of regal babies from the past 400 years, including a cotton vest and lace mitten worn by George III, a skullcap worn by Charles I and shoes and tiny booties worn by Queen Victoria’s children Princess Beatrice, Princess Alice and Prince Leopold.
These illuminate the highly personal family history that lies behind the birth of a new child – even when they are successor to the throne.
