This year, to mark its 50th Anniversary, Gainsborough's House will be celebrating with a major exhibition curated by Art Fund trustee Christopher Lloyd, Gainsborough's 'Diana and Actaeon' Revealed.

This year, to mark its 50th Anniversary, Gainsborough's House will be celebrating with a major exhibition curated by Art Fund trustee Christopher Lloyd, Gainsborough's 'Diana and Actaeon' Revealed.  A rare opportunity to witness the only mythological piece within Gainsborough's work, this exhibition will trace the painting's origins through detailed prepatory drawings and will explore its inventive interpretation of Ovid's 'Metamorphoses'. Other examples of works to explore the subject throughout history will also be displayed, including a Renaissance bronze and late Italian painting.

The exhibition finale " in a Sudbury first works by major French Impressionists such as Manet, Renoir and Cezanne will be shown to illustrate their involvement in developing the theme of Diana and Actaeon within the arts.
