James Stirling: Notes from the Archive
5 April – 21 August 2011
This will be the first retrospective exhibition of Stirling's work since his death eighteen years ago.
The Tate, which had strong links to Stirling, is the ideal place to re-examine his work and the display will cover all of Stirling's career, from the late 1950s to the 1990s.On show will be of his work from that period. This will includie unbuilt projects, photographs and drawings, and furniture designs.Taking in place in the Clore Gallery Striling designed by Stirling, this exhibition offers the perfect chance to reassess his work. Like the architect himself, it was deeply unfashionable at the time it was opened, but is now receiving new interest and appreciation.
