Journey through the afterlife: Ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead
4 November 2010 – 6 March 2011
Exploring the visually rich spells given to the dead to help them on their way through the afterlife, the exhibition draws on the Museum's extensive collections of papyri as well as international loans.
Exhibits will include the Greenfield Papyrus - at 37 metres the world's longest Book of the Dead - as well as other famous representations of the Netherworld, painted coffins, gilded masks, amulets, jewellery, tomb figurines and mummy paraphernalia.
