  • Monday 19 March 2018 - 14:00 until 16:15

A private guided tour of the Brangwyn Murals that decorate the Chapel of Christ's Hospital School near Horsham, West Sussex.

Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956) was once apprenticed as a teenager to William Morris and became involved with the Arts & Crafts movement. He later became associated with the art community based around Eric Gill at Ditchling in East Sussex. The murals at Christ’s Hospital, completed between 1912 and 1923, are counted as amongst his greatest works. They show the history of the Christian church in Britain. They are all large panels and, being painted in tempura, have a striking luminous quality. They represent a modern continuation of the long-standing tradition of church wall painting in Sussex.

This event has been organised by the Sussex Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
