Jane Austen and her World SOLD OUT

  • National Portrait Gallery |
  • Guided Tour |
  • Tuesday, 14 November 2017 - 15:00 until 16:00

If Jane Austen had gone to the National Portrait Gallery, whose portraits would she have visited? Josephine Ross, author of numerous books on Austen, including Jane Austen and her World (2017), leads a tour of the collection, telling the story of Austen’s life through the portraits of the great men and women who inspired and influenced her, from Samuel Johnson and Walter Scott to Sarah Siddons and Mary Wollstonecraft. The only known portrait of Austen, drawn from life by her elder sister Cassandra, can also be viewed.

This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
