  • 9 November 2017 - 11:30 until 13:00

The Sir John Soane's Museum is the extraordinary house of Sir John Soane. It remains as it was at the time of his death in 1837 and displays his collection of antiquities, models and paintings, with works by Hogarth (including A Rake’s Progress), Turner and Canaletto. It is full of curiosities such as movable walls to display paintings and a basement imitating Roman burial chambers. A £7 million restoration project has just been completed which gives visitors access to previously unseen parts of the house. The guided tour will include the private apartments and the basement Catacomb. A new exhibition space helps visitors to interpret Soane’s collection, influence and ideas. The Museum have said that visitors will be on their feet, over several floors, for the entire visit. Due to the age and layout of the building, no seats can be provided.

This event has been organised by the Oxfordshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
