Guided tour by private coach. Hardwick was the home of one of the 16th century's most powerful women, Elizabeth Countess of Shrewsbury or Bess of Hardwick. Outliving four husbands, Bess gathered social status, land and fabulous wealth and founded future ducal dynasties, including the Dukes of Devonshire at Chatsworth who donated Hardwick Hall to the National Trust.
