Once again, the South Yorkshire Art Fund committee have secured places on the prestigious Welbeck Abbey State Rooms tour.

Welbeck Abbey, founded in 1153 is sited, within some 15,000 acres, much of which is in Sherwood Forest. A coach takes the group through the 5th Duke of Portland's Victorian village. At the abbey a curator will lead the group through the State Rooms, which have been host to royalty, aristocracy and statesmen, the art works, include pieces by Sir Peter Lely, John Wootton and Sir Joshua Reynolds. Included is the Countess of Oxford’s soaring plasterwork ceiling in the Gothic Hall.

The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Comfortable footwear is essential and there are a number of steps and staircases. There is no seating on the tour so you will be required to stand for an extended period.

This event has been organised by the South Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
