An evening reception celebrating Grosvenor Museum’s Art Funded acquisition of a glamorous portrait of Sybil, Countess of Rocksavage, later Marchioness of Cholmondeley, painted by Charles Sims in 1922. There will be a short introductory address by Peter Boughton, the museum’s Keeper of Art, following which guests will be able to view the wealth of creative talent selected from local artists in The Grosvenor Museum’s 12th Open Art Exhibition, and the uniquely charming vision of Chester in Louise Rayner: Victorian Watercolours as well as the museum’s permanent collections. The paintings and sculpture in the art gallery span half a millennium of art in Cheshire, the Silver Gallery presents the definitive collection of Chester silver, and the period rooms illustrate changing fashions in domestic interiors from the 17th century to the 1920s.

This event has been organised by the Cheshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
