- Saturday, 8 April 2017 - 11:00 until 15:00
A golden opportunity to feast your eyes on some of the spectacular treasures showered on the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, during his 10,000 mile odyssey to the Indian sub-continent in 1875-6. Splendours of the Subcontinent is only on display in Bradford, Leicester and Edinburgh. The exhibition tells the story of the tour through watercolours, photographs and 74 works of art (many lavishly bejewelled) given to the Prince by the rulers of India. In addition to this visual feast, Kajal Meghani, Curator from the Royal Collections Trust, will talk on the collection.
The group may join a guided tour of the Moghul Gardens adjacent to the museum. There will be a 30 minute performance of Indian classical dance and an Asian-themed lunch including wine/juices.
Parking in the grounds of the museum, or on the adjacent road. Disabled parking sign posted at rear of museum. Bell to summon lift and access to all facilities. Entry by North Park Road and Victor Road.
