Enterprising Warminster - from coronation gloves to Britain's oldest working malting

  • Tuesday, 14 March 2017 - 10:15 until 15:30

Warminster, right on the edge of Salisbury Plain and best known as a military town, is home to two nationally significant businesses. Dents has been making fine leather gloves since 1777 - including the Queen's coronation gloves, and holds one of the finest collections in the world of historic and modern gloves.  Enjoy an introductory talk from the curator and also visit the museum where some gloves are displayed. There is then a short drive to Britain's oldest working maltings, privately owned and using traditional methods. A light lunch, including a glass or two of real ale made from Warminster malt, is followed by a tour of the Grade 2* listed building.

Note: There is no wheelchair access to The Maltings.

This event has been organised by the Wiltshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
