Harrow School’s Old Speech Room was built around 1820 as a space where boys could learn the art of public speaking. In 1976, it was converted into a gallery for the school’s distinguished collection of antiquities and fine art. Those represented include George Romney, Winston Churchill, Cecil Beaton and Victor Pasmore. Curator Julia Walton will give a talk on the highlights, including the displays on Lord Byron and Admiral Sir Edward Codrington and James Gillray’s political cartoons featuring Napoleon. Lastly, there will be a guided tour of Harrow School, followed by cream tea in the dining room.

This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
