Stubbs used the crags for backdrops e.g. A Horse Devoured by a Lion, and Samuel Hieronymous Grimm found inspiration here. Then choose to walk around the lake admiring the crags (free), or tour a cave (additional charges apply) viewing the faint engravings. Please note there are 47 steps up to the cave. See some contemporary Artfunded drawings and an exhibition of sketches by Major Haymen Rooke - the Major Oak named after him. Purchase lunch at Creswell’s cafe, or at the Harley Café at Welbeck, a five minute drive away. Visit The Harley Gallery, the farm shop, garden centre and restaurant.
