  • Thursday, 22 September 2016 - 08:00 until 18:00

A morning guided tour with Steve Porter, Head of Gardens and Landscapes, to see the impact that Capability Brown's extensive designs have made on the landscape surrounding the house:  moving the stables and offices and pulling down parts of Edensor village, removing ponds and parterres, improving irrigation and planting imported trees for the fourth Duke of Devonshire.

After lunch the group will have a guided tour of the house with special interest focusing on the changes being made by the present 12th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

Lunch is not included and is available in the Cavendish Room or self-service Carriage House Restaurant.  The coach will leave Ripon at 8am and Harrogate at 8.30 am.

This event has been organised by the North Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
