A walk guided by Charlie de Wet, starting at the Royal Exchange and taking in the history and architecture along the route to one of the oldest parts of the city towards St Paul’s and Blackfriars. Lunch is at the historic Art Nouveau Blackfriar pub, built in 1905 on the site of a Dominican friary. Famous for being saved from demolition by John Betjeman, the Grade II building was designed by an architect and artist who were both committed to the Arts and Crafts movement.
This event has been organised by the Essex Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
