  • Saturday 3 September 2016 - 10:00 until 11:30

The Whitechapel Bell Foundry is one of the oldest continuous businesses in London. Established in 1570, it still inhabits the building erected in 1670 after the premises were destroyed in the Great Fire. It has produced some of the world’s most famous bells, including Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell, and Big Ben, the enormous cast of which can still be viewed. This tour allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history of the foundry, learning about the complex skills required to make a bell, and how modern technology has changed the process.

This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
