Painting Bath: then and now
- The Victoria Art Gallery |
- Talk and Tour |
- Thursday, 16 June 2016 - 10:30 until 13:00
A guided tour with a difference. The Victoria Art Gallery has many paintings, prints and drawings of Bath dating from the 16th-century to the present. This visit includes a view a of a selection at the Gallery, with a brief talk about each, followed by a guided tour to view the sites as they are today. The guide will have reproductions of the pictures so that a direct comparison with the existing buildings/views can be made. Pictures will range from early 20th century Sickert paintings, to a Peter Brown painting of the modern city. As well as pictures currently on display in the galleries, the group will view a number of paintings in store in the basement. The tour will concentrate on sites close to the Gallery and will last approximately two and a half hours - the first hour in the gallery and the remainder walking with the guide.
This event has been organised by the Bristol and Bath Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
