Botticelli and the Medici circle
- Bowdon Parish Centre |
- Lecture |
- Monday 9 May 2016 - 14:00 until 16:00
Why was Botticelli important for the Medici and their associates? How did his work reflect their taste? Why did he turn to religious extremism at the end of his life?
Lecturer, Mary Acton will suggest some answers to these questions and discuss how Botticelli's work developed to reflect the complex ideas and attitudes of the humanist culture in which he lived. This will offer some fascinating background about the mysterious artist as a prelude to the new exhibition at the V&A.
Mary Acton lectures at Oxford University, having been the Course Director of the Undergraduate Diploma and Advanced Diploma in the History of Art at Continuing Education.
This event has been organised by the Cheshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
