- Talk and Tour |
- Friday 4 March 2016 - 12:00 until 19:45
The Minton Archive, presented by the Art Fund to the city of Stoke-on-Trent is one of the great archives of industrial Britain. It includes original designs, drawings and pattern books. An interactive presentation will show some of the collection. See and handle a wide variety of design manufacturing records. Staff will give an introduction to the way they are approaching making the collection accessible.
The most valuable collection of gold and silver artefacts ever found on British soil, the Staffordshire Hoard, was acquired for the nation in 2010 with the help of a £300,000 grant from the Art Fund. This collection is shared between several museums. View the pieces held by Stoke-on-Trent Museums in an exclusive evening, enjoying the glitter of ancient gold by atmospheric candlelight, discovering details, from the curator, of these historic artefacts and the latest findings.
This event has been organised by the South Yorkshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
