Southside House is described by Simon Jenkins as a “rambling, patched and thoroughly eccentric mansion”. It’s a fascinating house built and re-built over the centuries on the edge of Wimbledon Common with an eclectic mix of furnishings and a superb collection of art and objects reflecting the centuries of ownership in the same family. The guide will recount the history of the house and its owners and point out the many interesting features of this unique house. The garden combines woodland, wilderness, classical follies and water – all adding to the impact of this quite different experience.
This event has been organised by the Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
