Alison Bevan, Director of RWA, has kindly offered to give a ‘one off’ illustrated lecture to introduce the ‘Sons and Daughters of the Soil’ exhibition which opens on Saturday 20th June 2015. This exhibition is an important contribution to Bristol’s Year as European Green Capital.

The exhibition will display works associated with the Newlyn School: Dame Laura Knight, Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes, Walter Langley and Harold Harvey, together with associated rural realist painters. Subjects range over agriculture, horticulture and mining. Alison is an expert on the Newlyn school and these artists. The lecture promises to give real depth to viewing the exhibition after the lecture. There will be an opportunity ask questions. A glass of wine will be offered after the lecture.

This event has been organised by the Bristol and Bath Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
