Durham Cathedral sculpture tour - SOLD OUT

This is a specific walking tour of the cathedral focusing on the various and varied sculptures in the cathedral, from those produced by the Norman builders integral to the building to that of Fenwick Lawson's monumental Pieta (1981). It is hoped that Fenwick Lawson, who lives in Durham and was Head of Sculpture at Newcastle Polytechnic, having trained at the Royal College of Art in the 1950's, will be able to lead the tour, if not the Cathedral Chief Guide, Lillian Groves has agreed to lead the party. Without doubt this will be a highly informative and enjoyable tour that will last between 1 and 1½ hours.
Tea and cakes will be served afterwards in the medieval Prior’s Hall which in itself is a treasure not generally open to the public.
The group will meet at the information desk at the west end of the cathedral.
This event has been organised by the Northumberland Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
