This private guided tour will concentrate on the portraits and busts celebrating music, -musicians and patrons of music. Shortly after its opening in 1893, the Royal College of Music began to attract bequests of artworks and portraiture. The College has also commissioned portraits of some its famous alumni. Celebrated English figures in musical history such as Ralph Vaughan Williams, Sir George Grove and Benjamin Britten, to name a few, are memorialized through their portraits. Due to the renovation of the Museum, significant numbers of previously unseen works of art now grace the walls throughout the college.
This event has been organised by the London Events Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
