As part of the centenary memorial, Sir Stanley Spencer's role as war artist is explored in the exhibition Paradise Regained: Spencer in the Aftermath of the First World War. There will be a talk in the gallery before a guided walk around Cookham, the village which appears in so many of his paintings.

After a public lunch  we will visit the library of Sir Paul Getty at Wormsley. Specially built to house his collection, it lies in a peaceful Chiltern vallery. Under the title of The Art of the Book , it is a truly exquisite display of bindings, calligraphy, paintings and panoramas. It includes Chaucer, Repton Red Books and illuminated manuscripts.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
