An opportunity to visit this fine Elizabethan manor adjacent to the river Thames, which has been in the Rose family since 1890.
The house was the site for an intriguing history of ancestral struggler and creative innovation. In the early 20th century the house became a mecca for writers and artists, including Kenneth Graham, the author of Wind in the Willows. Charles Rose (the present owner's great-grandfather) is said to have been the model for Mr Toad. The present owner, Sir Julian Rose, has kindly offered to show us around some of this intriguing house and grounds.
