Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens
- Tremenheere Sculpture Garden |
- Talk and Tour |
- Friday, 6 June 2014 - 18:00 until 21:00
The guide describes the guiding principle behind the creation of the garden as the evolution of 'a naturalistic, arcadian space, blending the elements of landscape, planning and art to create a place of contemplation and wonder', making this an unmissable evening tour and dinner.
The land was in the Tremenheere family for over 600 years. It has been a vineyard for monks from St. Michaels' Mount, and in the nineteenth century was used for strawberry growing. Later it was farmed until the current owner acquired the site in 1997 and began its latest role.
Members will be given an introductory talk by the owner, Dr. Neil Armstrong, before walking round the extensive grounds and viewing works of art - including two by James Turrell. The evening will end with an on-site dinner, before talks by one or more of the artists.
