In 1469 Lorenzo de’Medici was appointed de facto ruler of Florence. During his reign he became a leading patron of the arts. This talk by Caroline Brooke considers his passion for collecting art at a time of political turmoil and assesses how important collecting was for his vision of Florence as a leading cultural centre of Europe.
