Exclusive guided tour of the former home and studio of Frederic, Lord Leighton and President of the Royal Academy 1878-1896. Built to George Aitchison's designs, extended and embellished over 30 years. The museum is noted for its elaborate oriental and aesthetic interiors. Highlights are the extraordinary two-storey Arab Hall with golden dome, the Silk Room and Leighton’s vast painting studio.
Works by Leighton , Millais, Edward Burne-Jones and George Frederick Watts, the Walter Crane designed mosaic frieze, and tiles by William de Morgan are amongst the museum's fine collection .
This glorious building was reopened in 2010 after extensive restoration.
This event has been organised by the Oxfordshire Volunteer Fundraising Committee to help raise money for the Art Fund.
