Sir John Soane and the Museum of Museums
- Ness Botanic Gardens |
- Lecture |
- Wednesday, 13 November 2013 - 14:30 until 17:00
Dr Kierkuc-Bielinski studied at The Courtauld as an undergraduate and post-graduate student, before working on the British Museum 2008 exhibition and catalogue “The American Scene: Prints from Hopper to Pollock”. He is currently Exhibitions curator at the Sir John Soane’s Museum. His recent exhibition at the Soane “Piranesi’s Paestum: Master Drawings Uncovered” is now in Berlin and will travel to New York and Stanford University.
The talk will focus on Sir John Soane’s (1753-1837) role as one of Britain’s most innovative collectors. Sir John was a neo-classical architect and his home in Lincoln’s Inn Fields holds many drawings and models of his projects and the collections of paintings, drawings and antiquities that he assembled, and is well worth a visit.
This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
