Wentworth Woodhouse and its monuments
- Wentworth Woodhouse |
- Visit and Talk |
- Tuesday, 20 August 2013 - 10:00 until 17:00
The visit begins at the impressive mansion of Wentworth Woodhouse at 10am for coffee, followed at 10.30am by our private full connoisseur tour of this enormous mansion. It was built over an Elizabethan house in the Baroque style in 1725 but as fashion changed, the Palladian east front was added in 1750. Our tour will last over two hours and we will see all the staterooms and much more.
After an optional light lunch at the Rockingham Arms in the village we will meet at 2.30pm for a private visit to two of the remarkable monuments on the Fitzwilliam estate, the Rockingham Monument and Hoober Stand. Our afternoon tour will be led by Dr. Patrick Eyres.
This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
