Chagall: Modern Master, by Hilary Hope Guise

A lecture on Marc Chagall, with a glass of wine, at the Royal Over-Seas League to tie in with Tate Liverpool’s current retrospective exhibition on the artist. The supremacy of blue often unites Chagall’s floating figures. His dreamers, brides and lovers, exist in a rootless universe where gravity seems to have no pull, and where there are no sure foundations.  As the quintessential alien in exile, survivor of a revolution and two World Wars, Chagall had no other recourse except to trust in the narratives of his ancient people, and draw on the strength of his God.

Hilary Guise is a painter and NADFAS lecturer.  This event is in association with ROSL-Arts.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise money for the Art Fund.
