A film by Derek Shiel and Adam Alive

This new film on the painter and poet who was a contemporary of Eric Gill will be presented by Derek Shiel and introduced by William Gibbs.

The film follows Jones joining the Ditching community, his conversion to Roman Catholicism and his success as a painter and engraver. It touches on his nervous breakdown (1932-1934) and his developing interest in writing poetry. It also explores his relationship with Eric Gill and the strong influence exerted by this friendship. Packed with images of his work and places that inspired his art, the film is studded by in depth interviews with artists, friends, critics and historians including Frances Spalding, Dr Rowan Williams and David Alston. The result is a fascinating insight into the life and work of one of our major British artists of the 20th Century.

This event has been organised by a local supporter group to help raise funds. The presentation is a joint Art Fund Powys and Brecon NADFAS event.
