From the late 1950s, Henry Moore became one of the most widely exhibited and successful artists in the world, his sculptures permanently sited in numerous European and North American cities. How did the artist, who preferred his work to be seen in open landscape rather than ‘in or on the most beautiful building I know’, adapt to the demands of urban public sculpture? What effect did it have on his work?
