Turner Prize @ BALTIC – An exclusive preview of the short-listed artists
- BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art |
- Friday, 21 October 2011 - 18:30 until 22:30
The Turner Prize will be held at BALTIC this autumn. Never before has it been shown at a non-Tate venue outside the capital, this a great coup for BALTIC and for the North East.
The Turner Prize has become a distinctive part of the British art calendar and is widely recognised as one of the most important and prestigious awards for visual arts in Europe. We feel it ought to be celebrated in grand style, with this private drinks reception and talk by Godfrey Worsdale, Director of BALTIC.
This special event gives members the opportunity to preview the work of the four short-listed artists, before the announcement of the winner in December 2011. Worsdale, the current Director of BALTIC, was previously the founding director of MIMA. Since coming to BALTIC three years ago he has further developed BALTIC's profile and reputation, and is one of the four judges on the year's Turner Prize panel.
