Come and join us at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth on Saturday May 21st at 11am for a talk by Maurice Shepherd, past President of the Royal Watercolour Society, NEAC, MA (RCA), on the life and work of Carel Weight CH, CBE, RA (1908-1997). Professor Weight was professor of paintingat the Royal College of Art, his friends included artists such as L. S. Lowry, Ruskin Spear and David Hockney, and his paintings hang in all the major galleries including the National Portrait Gallery, the Tate, and Fitzwilliam and Ashmolean museums. He was an official war artist in World War II and painted murals for the Festival of Britain in 1951. Members are also invited to bring along items to create a potentially interesting and diverse impromptu art and craft display for general enjoyment and discussion over coffee (nothing too fragile or too valuable as it must be at owner's own risk).

Narberth offers plenty of opportunities to make an enjoyable day out with interesting restaurants and cafes for lunch and a wide variety of independent shops for browsing. The exhibition at the Oriel Q art gallery will be entitled Beth Marsden - New York.
