A tour for members has been booked to view the public rooms and Chapel of Auckland Castle, residence of the Bishops of Durham for the last 800 years. Of particular interest are twelve paintings by Francisco de Zubaran of Jacob and his Twelve Sons painted between 1640-45. The paintings and castle are owned by the Church Commissioners, but their future is under consideration. This may be the last chance to see this amazing building and its contents. The Castle also boasts a deer park, open to the public.
