The Stained Glass of Charles Eamer Kempe
- All Saints Church |
- Study Day |
- Saturday 16 April 2011 - 10:30
There will be a joint study day with the Friends of All Saints, Cambridge, examining the work of the Victorian stained glass designer, Charles Eamer Kempe (1837-1907). Kempe's expertise in medieval glass formed the rudiments of his style, a style that was to peak in popularity at the end of the nineteenth century.
Led by Adrian Barlow, a Senior Member of Wolston College and a lecturer at the University of Cambridge for the past 10 years, the morning session will be spent on site at the beautifully restored All Saints Church. Adrian will give a talk on Kempe’s work followed by a tour of the Church. After lunch there will be a further brief lecture before a visit to some of the other Cambridge buildings featuring Kempe stained glass. The day will finish near the city centre at around 4.30 pm.
