- Thursday 14 October 2010
Angkor dominated Southeast Asia from the 9th to the 14th century. Its agricultural irrigation systems were extremely sophisticated, enabling the city to flourish.
Influenced by India through maritime trade, the kings of Cambodia were Hindu and built magnificent stone temples to worship their gods.
This lecture will focus on the most celebrated temple, Angkor Wat - its bas-reliefs of kings, gods, battles and daily life illuminate the history of the city.
