Ditchley Park is an 18th century house, set in wooded countryside. Designed by Gibb, it was built in 1772. There are rich interiors by William Kent and Henry Flitcroft and decorative schemes by Nancy Lancaster. Churchill and his cabinet used the house as a weekend retreat 1940/41. The Italian garden, created 1934/39, was designed by Jellicoe, who reinstated the Gibb terrace.
