Visit: Drayton House and St Peter's Church

  •  |

Begun in the 1300s, Drayton House came by direct descent to the Sackville family in 1770, whose descendants live there today. An exceptional family house, it has a magnificent courtyard by William Talman and the dining room has a superb plaster ceiling from the 1770s. There is ironwork by Jean Tijou, a recently embroidered State Bed, and furniture by Gerreit Jensen.

St Peter's Church is a masterpiece of English Perpendicular with a spectacular octagon tower, rare medieval glass and the superb Greene effigies.

The architectural historian and archivist Bruce Bailey will be the guide for this trip.
