Trip: Compton Verney
- Compton Verney |
A trip to Compton Verney, an award-winning art gallery of international standing which is housed in a Grade I listed mansion, remodelled in the 1760s by Robert Adam. There are six permanent collections, including Neapolitan Baroque art; British portraiture; one of the top three collections of Chinese bronzes in Europe and a bequest from Enid Marx, a graphic artist and textile designer. There is also chance to see the special exhibition, 'Francis Bacon: In Camera'; a ground breaking exhibition which focuses on Bacon's work in relation to film and photography.
An introduction to the house will be given by director, Stephen Parisienne, and an explanatory talk about the Bacon exhibition given by the curator. There will also be time to explore the Capability Brown landscaped park.
