This trip begins with a tour of the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology, considered a major scientific resource when it was presented to Oxford University by Elias Ashmole. The musuem's collections, which first opened in 1683, embrace eastern and western art and include antiquities, coins, porcelain and sculpture, as well as paintings by Michelangelo and Rembrandt. This trip is a fantastic opportunity to be an early visitor to the museum's enhanced gallery space, which has just reopened following major redevelopment.

After lunch, guests will enjoy a visit to Christchurch College Picture Gallery, which contains around 300 paintings and 2000 drawings from Italy, England and Russia, dating between the 14th and the 19th centuries. Christchurch College was founded in 1524 by Cardinal Wolsey, and is one of the largest colleges in Oxford.
