Coach visit: Barlaston Hall and Wedgwood Museum
- Barlaston Hall and Wedgwood Museum |
A wonderful opportunity to visit the beautifully restored Barlaston Hall as well as the nearby award winning Wedgwood Museum – winner of The Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries 2009
Barlaston Hall, an English Palladian country house built by architect Sir Robert Taylor in 1756, was bought by the Wedgwood company in the 1937, but by the 1980s had suffered serious structural damage due to the coal mining beneath. After major efforts and renovations, the hall has been beautifully restored to Rococo glory by the present owners.
Followed by a tour and talk at the Wedgwood Museum . One of the most interesting ceramic collections in the world is housed in this exciting building. Simon Wedgwood, grandson of the last family member Chairman, will accompany the visit and is happy to answer informal questions.
