The award-winning Foundling Museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, London's first home for abandoned children. Founded by Thomas Coram in the mid-18th century, the hospital displayed works of art by prominent artists of the time. The museum recreates Hogarth's Court Room and the Picture Gallery, which together acted as the first public art gallery in England. Visitors will enjoy a one-hour tour of the museum, and will see 18th-century paintings, sculpture and furniture. The tour will conclude in the Gerald Coke Handel Room with an introduction to the composer Handel and his association with the Foundling Hospital.
