The Archives preserve historical records and printed books relating to the county and hold many resources which may help in researching the history of your house or area. They also include records relating to parish registers, wills, prison registers, census returns and other sources which provide an invaluable genealogical guide. Some of its important collections include the Crimean war diaries of the Whitmore and Estcourt families; the work of Ivor Gurney, First World War poet and musician and the political papers of Sir Michael Hicks Beach, Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Two private tours of the Archives have been arranged, each of which will include a short talk and tour of the Archives lasting approximately 2 hours.
