In 1932, Architectural Review described the recently completed Broadcasting House as ‘the new Tower of London’, and its distinctive Art Deco facade quickly became a British icon, a symbol of the BBC, familiar worldwide. This tour covers the history, architecture and decoration of the building, which has recently undergone renovation. Among the highlights are Eric Gill’s superb sculptures and a visit to the Council Chamber. If no recording is taking place, visitors will be able to see the historic Radio Theatre, home of The Goons and The News Quiz, which was used as an air raid shelter during the Second World War.
